Dan Bell is a U.S. Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander who serves as a Maritime Terrorism and Critical Infrastructure Analyst and Coast Guard Liaison Officer to the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC). In this role, he provides timely strategic maritime counterterrorism analysis to policymakers and federal, state, local, and Intelligence Community partners. Additionally, he researches and develops intelligence assessments and identifies opportunities to reduce or disrupt maritime terrorism trends, threats, and terrorist exploitation of the marine transportation system.

Prior to NCTC, he served in various intelligence and operational shipboard assignments, currently is pursuing a M.S. in Government Information Leadership from the National Defense University’s College of Information and Cyberspace, and has earned a M.S. from the National Intelligence University, a M.A. from the U.S. Naval War College, and a B.S. from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

He has also served as a Coast Guard Intelligence Fellow, a Nuclear Public Policy Fellow at the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center, and an Executive Fellow at the Wilson Center’s Artificial Intelligence Lab, and has been published in Proceedings and on the U.S. Naval Institute Blog.
