Elliott Smith, Real Estate and Asset Management Director at the Port of Bellingham in Washington State will participate in a panel discussion on “Hydrogen Powered vessels”. Elliott will focus on the practical, such as US Coast Guard approvals to load hydrogen for testing and sea trials, local fire department concerns and fueling without dedicated hydrogen bunkering facilities.
For the Port of Bellingham since 2021, Elliott worked with the Port’s economic development team to bring Corvus Energy’s first marine battery assembly plant to the United States. The Port plays host to a number of marine construction ventures, including All American Marine, and their efforts constructing a hydrogen fuel cell vessel for service in San Francisco Bay. The port intends to continue sponsoring hydrogen fuel cell development and installation from our 300 commercial tenants at the port and surrounding industrial areas.
Prior to working with the Port of Bellingham, Elliott has worked as real estate project director for Shell and Philips with experience in construction and corporate real estate development including: office workplace portfolio management; architectural master planning and site selection; and industrial infrastructure, laboratory, office, call & data centers; and residential construction projects in more than 30 countries. Between 2000 and 2022 all projects included energy efficiency, solar energy, EV charging infrastructure and in 2020, a gas free conversion of Philips’ Eindhoven NL HQ offices. Site selection for 2018-19 Shell solar field projects in Heerenveen and Biddinghuizen and examination of additional parcels for solar field projects near transmission lines and transformers in the Netherlands.
